BREATH Success: DkIT student Kaneez Rabab successfully defends thesis at viva

DKIT | General News

DkIT PhD student Kaneez Rabab undertook her viva voce examination on December 16th, defending a doctoral thesis entitled: Mechanism of action of GoSlo-SR-5-6 on Kv7 channels”.

In ASMCs, the Kv7 channels can be targeted by giving activators that cause relaxation and therefore reverse bronchoconstriction. Rabab investigated the mechanism of action of SR-5-6, a novel activator of Kv7 channels, to explore potential therapeutics for hyperconstricted airways in COPD and asthma patients in the future.

Her Examination Panel included Prof. Teresa Giraldez from University of La Laguna (Spain), and Dr. Arjan Van Rossum (Internal).

Congratulations Dr Kaneez Rabab – and well done to the supervisory team, led by Professor Mark Hollywood.
