BREATH Success: QUB student Emma Carroll successfully defends thesis at viva

QUB PhD student Emma Carroll undertook her viva voce examination on January 27th, defending a doctoral thesis entitled: The Development of Novel Strategies to Modulate Epithelial Sodium Channel (ENaC) Activity in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)”.

Her Examination Panel included Professor Mike Althaus ( Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences) and Dr Niamh Buckley (Internal, QUB).

Congratulations Dr Carroll – and well done to the supervisory team, led by Professor Lorraine Martin.

BREATH PhD Team Visit GlaxoSmithKline

To provide industry-focused training, 17 PhD students fromBREATH were invited to the Brentford and Stevenage GSK sites for a 2day visit. They formed part of a larger BREATH team of 35 scientists from the Dundalk Institute of Technology, Queen’s University Belfast and the University of the West of Scotland.
